Novinger’s Inc. was involved in the prefabrication process for The Carson project, a 12-story mixed-use development in Philadelphia. Located at 5th and Spring Garden Streets, The Carson transformed a worn-down strip mall into a vibrant urban landmark. The design, crafted by BLT Architects, features colorful ALUCOBOND® PLUS panels, which played a crucial role in the building’s dynamic and modern façade.
The project creatively integrated an existing grocery store into the high-rise structure using a c-shaped design with three distinct sections, each featuring a unique façade. This approach revitalized the area and enhanced the community’s urban landscape.
Key to the project’s success was the use of ALUCOBOND PLUS panels in custom colors, which provided design flexibility, durability, and affordability. The teams collaborated closely, with Novinger’s Inc. constructing nearly 450 prefabricated wall sections and River Supply fabricating 5,000 ALUCOBOND panels. The prefabrication method streamlined the building process, reducing material waste and expediting the timeline. The Carson now stands as a modern architectural achievement, blending contemporary design with the neighborhood’s character.
